Welcome from the Headteacher
Our school is situated in the heart of Colchester Garrison and was established in 1966 exclusively for children with parents in the Armed Forces. Since our opening the school has maintained its links with the Armed Forces and is also attended by children from across Colchester. This close association with the British Army gives our school its unique character. We accept mobility as a way of life and pride ourselves in our ability to support new pupils and families.
As a result, our school is a diverse and vibrant community with many of our pupils and staff having experienced life in other countries and areas of the UK.
We believe in making learning exciting and we work hard to provide challenges and opportunities for children to develop a love for learning. Our mantra sums up our vision, emphasising the importance of effort and choice in shaping what we can all achieve.
Each term we offer a choice of extra-curricular activities and have a very busy sporting and events calendar. We have some impressive facilities including an all-weather pitch and our fantastic school kitchen which provides home-cooked, tasty food for lunch and events.
Everyone at Montgomery Junior School is encouraged to abide by the 3Rs, do their best and feel proud of their achievements.
Finally, at the end of March 2018 I shall be retiring as headteacher of this special school. I will be sad to say goodbye to the fantastic children that attend it and the wonderful staff who work within it. I have no doubt that my successor will go on to move the school forward in a new and exciting direction.
If you have any questions or would like to meet with me about anything, please contact our school reception team, Mrs Creed or Mrs Hardy, on 01206 572288.
