We have established a number of excellent partnerships with our local community that further enrich the curriculum of our school.
We have recently established links with the University of Essex and the Student Union's VTeam. The University students have delivered the Einstein project which brings science to primary schools in a fun and interactive way. Using everyday household objects, volunteers demonstrated scientific experiments, like exploding mints in coke and looking at fruit’s DNA.
The Chinese Society at the University led a fabulous Chinese New Year Celebration where children learnt how to write their names in Chinese and enjoyed a Chinese feast eaten with chopsticks! We are very excited about our new links with the University and are looking forward to many new and exciting projects.
Colchester United Community Sports Trust and Premier Sport both provide enhanced sports teaching for our pupils in the form of curriculum PE work and after school clubs including football, gymnastics, tag rugby, kwik cricket and multi-sports.
In addition, pupils have the opportunity to experience Colchester United’s IT based programme Playing for Success which is aimed at helping pupils improve their self-confidence through developing their computer skills.
The school works closely with Child First South East and together we offer extra curricular activities and extensive holiday programmes. New opportunities include the Colchester Children's University which provides children aged 7-14 years with exciting and innovative learning activities and experiences outside of the normal school day.
